选修课程描述: Students will be able to 1) perform a history and neurologic exam and use the examination to localize the neurological problem and create a differential diagnosis; 2) develop an organized approach to the evaluation of patients with neurological disorders;3) be familiar with neurological disorders commonly encountered in an outpatient setting; 4) gain exposure to subspecialty areas within neurology if desired. Students will select between general neurologic practice or subspecialty areas (e.g. 癫痫, 运动障碍, 神经肌肉疾病, neuro-眼科学, 儿童神经病学, 头痛). Multiple blocks may be arranged to gain experience in different subspecialties. 选修课程描述: This elective will provide an outpatient experience for students interested in neurology. 选修课程描述: 神经-眼科学接口, 眼科学, 神经外科, and Medicine to evaluate patients who have nonophthalmic problems of the visual system. 选修课程描述: This four-week course will offer an intensive experience in both Neurology and 神经外科 to students intent on pursuing careers in primary care. The student will work closely with each of four neurosurgeons and three neurologists in an office, 医院, 手术室设置. Goals of the rotation are: to improve assessment and clinical decision making of the primary care physician with regard to diseases of the nervous system; to gain familiarity with various neuro-imaging modalities and their applications; and to build a knowledge base which can incorporate newer technologies certain to impact the field. Operation room experience will be designed to enhance clinical rather than surgical skills. Participation in an on-call schedule will be strongly recommended. Two to three detailed patient work-ups per week will be required. 将提供阅读材料.
