The Department of Neurology faculty are actively involved in the teaching and training of medical students in basic and clinical neuroscience. Our clinical courses offered during the third and fourth years of medical school are designed to help Upstate students develop an understanding of neurological diseases, examinations, and therapeutic approaches. During these courses, faculty provide instruction through weekly lectures and clinical supervision.

As the first comprehensive stroke center in upstate New York, students can work in various levels of specialized care within state of the art facilities. Students will train in outpatient and inpatient settings alongside residents and faculty in a multitude of sub-specialties. All clinical experiences are designed to emphasize a multi-disciplinary approach between neurologists, neurosurgeons, and neuro-radiologists.

We hope this website provides helpful information regarding our medical student education programs. If you have additional questions, please contact the department clerkship administrator.
