Study about agitation in Alzheimer's disease seeks volunteers
Up to 90 percent of people with Alzheimer's disease will develop disruptive agitation, and some of the symptoms can cause even more distress than the loss of memory -- for the people with Alzheimer's as well as for their caregivers. A study is underway at Upstate to determine whether a particular blood pressure medication can be used to treat this agitation. Sharon Brangman, MD, tells about the study; she is the chief of geriatrics at Upstate and a former president of the American Geriatrics Society.
